Adam Harvey Named 2007 Telstra Road To Tamworth Ambassador

Multiple Australian Golden Guitar winner and three time CMAA Male Vocalist of the Year, Adam Harvey, has been named the official Ambassador of the 2007 Telstra Road to Tamworth.
The Telstra Road to Tamworth competition is a nationwide talent quest that identifies heat winners from across Australia. The heat winners qualify for the finals series which will be held at the Tamworth Country Music Festival between January 19 and 28 next year.
Harvey today urged aspiring country music singers to chase their musical dreams and enter the 2007 Telstra Road to Tamworth competition. Online entries open today and the first heat will be held on 29 April 2006 in Caboolture.
"The competition reflects the growth of country music as a popular genre and will help identify and foster aspiring country music artists.
"I think Telstra Country Wide's support is fantastic as it is nurturing new country music talent in Australia and I am really excited about being involved in this year's competition", he said.
The Telstra Road To Tamworth competition offers two trips to Nashville as part of the $80,000 prize package. One trip goes to the overall competition winner and the other to an aspiring writer through the Songwriters' Encouragement Award.
The Telstra Road to Tamworth is an initiative borne from Telstra Country Wide's sponsorship of the Tamworth Country Music Festival and the national and international interest in contemporary country music.
Each winner of the heats staged across the country will receive a $1000 prize to assist in their travel to Tamworth for the 2007 Telstra Country Music Festival, recognised as the largest country music festival in Australia. The top eight finalists will each receive a MP-3 player valued at $500 and progress to the Grand Final.
"I am really proud to be the ambassador for this contest as country music can�??t move forward without programs such as Telstra Road to Tamworth. I only wish this competition had been around when I was an unknown kid trying to make it in the country music game," Harvey said.
